Did you know
How much does a Practical Driving Test cost? The Driving standards agency currently charge £62.00 for a test (£75.00 out of normal hours). If you find whilst booking that you are being charged more, then you are not on the official DSA website. www.direct.gov.uk. (unless the DSA put their prices up)
How long does my Practical Driving Test last? The test lasts 38-40 minutes. From being called up by your examiner to driving away at the end is about 1 hour (usually a little less).
Can I book my Driving Test before passing my theory test? You have to pass your theory test before you are allowed to book your Practical Driving Test.
Which car do I take my Driving Test in? The Driving Test Centre does not supply a car for your test, you have to bring one with you. As a pupil of Lytes Driving School you would use your Driving Instructors car for your Practical Driving Test.
How many manoeuvres do I do on my Driving Test? You will do one of the following manoeuvres. Left reverse, Turn in the road, Parallel parking and Bay parking. There is a very slim chance that you could be asked to reverse around a corner on the right hand side of the road. You will practice all these manoeuvres with your Driving Instructor. You may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop.
What is independent Driving? Your examiner will ask you to drive without instruction for about ten minutes. This may take the form of following road signs, or following a diagram (a verbal discription will be given of the route and you will be asked if you wish to see a diagram).
What is the point of independent Driving? It's to help you plan ahead and be in the correct position at the appropriate time.
Will my Driving Instructor be in the car during my Driving Test? At the start of the test your examiner will ask if you wish for your Driving Instructor to sit in the car during the test. It is YOUR choice not your Instructors. If your Instructor does sit in the car during the test, they are not allowed to take any part in the test. They are there for moral support and as an observer.
